Software I use, gadgets I love, and other things I recommend.

Anything I use for work, to keep me productive. Here's a little list of my favorite things.

Workstation

  • 13.3” MacBook Pro, M1, 16GB RAM (2020)

I've used an Intel-based 13.3-inch MacBook Air before, and the difference is night and day. I've never once heard the fans turn on, and the operation has become incredibly fast.

Development tools

  • PhpStorm

PhpStorm is best IDE for working with PHP.

  • Databases

Databases are managed with TablePlus and DBngin.

  • Local development

To run projects locally I use Laravel Herd and Docker.

  • Charles

I use Charles in mobile app development for testing. A great proxy-debugging application.

  • Sublime Text 4

Not every coding task requires that I fire up PHPStorm, in that case my choice is Sublime Text 4.

  • iTerm2

I tried Warp and Termius, but still use iTerm2 with Z shell and Oh My Zsh.

Productivity

  • Alfred

Alfred makes my life easier. From storing the clipboard, to automating some workflows.

  • Reeder 5

    My current RSS reader.

Hardware

  • Shure MV7 Podcast Microphone + K&M Boom Arm

Microphone for podcasts or recording audio for YouTube videos. I use it with K&M Boom Arm.

  • DJI Mic

    Microphone for recording while traveling.

  • Apple iPhone 15 Pro, 256 GB

iPhone is my main assistant, it allows me to stay productive and not be distracted by operational moments.

  • SRH440A Professional Recording Headphones

Audio recording headphones, which I plug into the microphone.

  • Apple AirPods Pro

Everyday headphones, I wear them when walking, working and running.

Misc

  • Mail

I have tried many clients: AirMail, Spark, and Canary, but settled on the default macOS email client.

  • 1Password

I used 1Password until version 6, but then I switched to Enpass. Now I'm using 1Password again, and it's probably going to be a long time.

  • Parallels

Parallels allows me to create virtual machines (including Windows) on a Mac. From time to time I need Windows, and I do not want to carry two laptops with me.

  • Transmit

File manager that supports a lot of protocols.

  • Google Workspace

I use Google Workspace to handle mail and calendars.

  • Cloud Storage

A lot of files are stored in the iCloud, and OneDrive is used as backup storage.
